Call for Papers
Cabinet des Fées is a print journal of fairy tale retellings with both literary and academic components. We are actively seeking academic papers relating to the history and development of the fairy tale, as well as those focusing on revisionist retellings themselves. Potential topics might include:
Exploration of any of the "original" literary fairy tale collections as exemplars of their times.
Examinations of techniques commonly employed in retellings—reversals of hero and villain, changes in perspective or setting, subversions of traditional endings.
Analysis of the works of individual authors of fairy tale retellings, such as Angela Carter, Emma Donoghue, or Tanith Lee.
All manuscript submissions, including explanatory notes and the list of Works Cited, should be double-spaced in a size 12 font. Neither embedded footnotes nor generated footnotes should be used. Documentation should follow the MLA Style Manual (1999) with parenthetical citations in the text and a Works Cited list at the end. Only explanatory endnotes are needed, and submissions should run between 2000 and 5000 words.
Please be advised that Cabinet des Fées is a magazine with an academic component. We are not a peer-reviewed journal.
